Chloe Frazer shows the introductory scene during tough business negotiations with Indian girl Meenu. After paying for the shawl and taking control of Chloe for the first time, follow the right path and then go down the stairs on the left.

Go straight ahead to the stand with the many jugs where you can take a picture. Then turn around 180 degrees and go right through the crowd of people. Meenu stabs you in a short sequence of the Ganesha figure, which you then reclaim – this is the first treasure.

Then you go down the stairs on the right and follow the path to the main road. After the sequence, Meenu distracts the soldier. You now have a few seconds to jump on the truck. Once you’ve done that, the prologue of Uncharted – The Lost Legacy ends.

Chapter 1: The Uprising

Searching for a red door, stroll through the city’s linear lanes. As soon as you pass a car, turn left and head straight for the checkpoint.
The soldiers become suspicious, but still let you pass. Follow the linear path until you can press L3 to aim for the red door you are looking for. Then turn right and don’t deviate from the path.

A rat shows you the way through a broken fence. A short time later, cover up behind the sandbags with the circle key and wait for one of the soldiers to come to you. Press the square key to silently turn it off.

Jump over the barricade and sneak up to the soldier who went into the left lane to eliminate him as well. After that it’s not far to the red door. However, the lock has to be broken by you – not a very difficult matter.

Off to the roof

Go down the stairs inside the building. After that you can either turn right or left along. We recommend the left path through the water. Wait until the soldiers have left the staircase and then go up the stairs to the next level section.

There are three opponents here. The first one walks right past you and invites you to the turn of the neck. Afterwards you look around on the west side for a big hole in the wall. Take cover here and wait until the second soldier is in position – the surprise attack can start.

Now jump through the hole and look to the right. You will discover a staircase leading up to the roof of the building – so you can spare the third soldier.

On the roof you can see a well lit ladder on the left side, which you have to climb up. Before you do this, look for a treasure to the left of the ladder. Finally, you’ll have to fight a little skirmish with half a dozen soldiers – Nadine supports you. As soon as all opponents are on the boards, Chapter 1 ends.

Big Brain Academy – Prepare for Thinking

Nintendo shows again and again with success that on the screen not only blood has to inject. Brain chasing games are also very popular, as the two Dr. Kawashima parts show. The Big Brain Academy, released a year ago for the Nintendo DS, seamlessly followed these successes.

Watched Wii owners so far at the brain marathon in the tube, now the game was implemented under the name Big Brain Academy for Wii for the new console. Whether the implementation and the game principle transferred from the handheld to the console loss-free transfer, you will learn in our review.

Headaches guaranteed

To the story of Big Brain Academy for Wii there is not much to say: There is actually no! Nevertheless, it is one of the more challenging games, as man or woman has to work the gray cells and the brain is trained. After the game has been inserted and started, you are greeted by a somewhat rustic-looking professor named Lobo, who has a few cunning sayings around his ears. At the same time, he also greeted us in the same breath as our constant companion: the FB assistant. Who now expects a racy blonde, has far missing. Instead, a female voiced from the speaker of the Wii remote, which also welcomes us. But now it can finally go. But before you can put your brain to the test, you have to first register in the office of the academy in the study book. From now on, the image of his alter ego is emblazoned on this book, in which all the results and records are stored. If you enter the Aula, you can not trust your eyes: the Miis from the Mii can run around here, which creates a sense of familiarity, and quite by the way, this Rumgewusel breathes something from a real university.

BBAcademy 1

First, the game will be explored on its own. So go to the left wing of the academy, where you find the actual “test” next to the “exercises”, with which the weight of the brain is to be determined. In the test, the mass of the brain is measured in 15 different tasks from five academic categories: vision, memoria, analysis, algebra and piracta. Not only is it difficult to understand how hard the brain is, but it also gets an individual rank depending on the performance. Finally, the test also reveals which personality the brain has! For the test itself, you select the Mii you just entered in the study book and select “TO TEST” to finally start. Before it finally starts, read the rules to the respective knowledge area, so you know what the tasks are. In “Vision”, for example, the three tasks all revolve around an accurate observation of the player.

In the first exercise, “Pictogram Hunting”, the displayed symbols must be made in a kind of “Hau den Lukas” game. The “image focus” presents only blurred, pixelated or almost concealed images, which become more and more clear in the course of time and where it is, of course, quickly to find out what is on the picture. The last exercise “Night Safari” lets the player light the dark with a flashlight. The task is to find out by which lamp most of the specimens are here. The four other categories offer similar exercises, each of which is adapted to their subject matter. After completing all the tasks from the five categories, you will learn your brain mass. Each individual area of knowledge is provided with a gram number so that the final result is determined. In addition, Professor Lobo will tell you where you have been very good and where there may still be some exercise. This is where the exercises come into play, because these are the ideal way to improve or deepen their skills in certain categories or tasks. You can win a bronze, silver and gold medal in each task on each difficulty level.

Game Details

Anyone who now thinks that the potential of the game has already been exhausted has again missed, because the game even contains 3 different multiplayer games, in which the player alone can compete against the study books of the other Miis or even against other human players. The Brain Sprint, for example, is a hot race where two teams try to solve a set number of tasks as quickly as possible. With a single Wii remote, a team of up to four players can compete against a study book. For this, 4 Wii remotes are not required – as possibly assumed – and the remote control is passed on to the next player. If, on the other hand, 2 remote controls are used, two teams with up to four players can compete against each other. As soon as a team reaches the finish line, the victory starts.

In the “Brain Marathon”, a student or a team of up to eight students must try to solve as many tasks as possible without errors within a time limit. Once the time has elapsed or a single task is answered incorrectly, the brain marathon is over. In order to participate in the Brain Marathon, only one Wii Remote is required. If several students take part, they will be handed over as before. At the end of the brain marathon, the performance of the individual participants is displayed and evaluated.

Gears of War – Justified or Average Shooter

Gears Of War is finally here and we could not resist to investigate the game. We caught the German import version and report in this review, whether the hype about this game was really justified or is only an average shooter.

How everything starts

At Gears Of War, the threat comes from within the Earth. Actually, so far, everything was just a myth that strange beings lived among the great cities of the Earth. Until one day everything didn’t become real. So-called “Locust” showed their face to humanity as they came up to the surface through large earth holes. This surprise attack claimed some victims, but humans did not surrender and beat back with chemical weapons or orbital particle guns. While the survivors retreated to the Jacinto plateau, the locust also found this refuge and attacked the people there.

Marcus Fenix, the main character and title hero of Gears Of War, is in the war, but he resists commanding the command and tries to free his father, who is at the Jacinto plateau, from the catches of Locust. In vain as later on. And to all the evil, Marcus is sentenced to 40 years imprisonment for his disobedience to the army. However, soon the Locust also attack the prison and Marcus is again confronted with struggle and death.

At this point, the player intervenes in the action and takes the role of Marcus Fenix in the 3d person perspective.

Well, the story appears interesting at first sight, but becomes rather boring and uninteresting in the course of the game. The characters are little illuminated and much is stereotypically staged. What the story is not capable of – inspire the player – but creates the action, because this is fantastically portrayed!

Coverage and shooting

Coverage and shooting is the survival guaranteed. This is essential in Gears Of War. Hardly any other game uses the given cover possibilities so consistently. Without protection one is an easy target and does not stay long on its feets especially in the higher levels of difficulty. In Gears Of War, the A button is without doubt the most important button on the controller, which is loaded with numerous functions. With the help of the button you go to cover, climbs over obstacles, dodges and runs ducked. There are almost all functions that are important for survival on a button, but this is by no means overstated. Also important is the X-key, which allows doors to enter, ammunition collected and guns manned. For the exact aim you have to dare a little with the head from the cover and are thus also vulnerable. With the left shoulder button, the enemy is then targeted, with the right button the balls are fired towards the opponent. However, there is also the possibility of firing blindly in one direction from the cover. The principle of coverage and shooting has not been so fantastically represented by any other game as in Gears Of War!

Self-healing and AI comrades

Unlike in many games, Gears Of War does not require any medication. The health regenerates itself as in Call of Duty 2 after a short time of itself. Thus one can concentrate undisturbed on the shooting and does not have to look for medication. If the AI comrades were to go to the ground once in the fire fight, they can be brought back to the legs by pushing the button. The AI is also self-covered or storms forward on opponents to fight with them. Annoying is that the comrades sometimes have misfits and walk around the area senselessly. While the player can give commands such as “grouping, weapon rest, or attacking”, these commands are not very useful because they are hardly implemented efficiently.

Weapon selection

The player has numerous weapons to choose from. For splatter fans, there is a handy chain saw that is integrated into a primary weapon. This weapon makes short process with the opponents. In the course of the game, there is a wide range of weapons, such as two guns, a Locust rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle, grenades, and the Hammer of the Dawn. The latter serves as a target marker for the particle orbits stationed in orbit. This weapon is used only in a few places, but it is excellent against strong opponents which can not be defeated with normal weapons. However, this weapon unfortunately works only in the open air and only for a certain duration.

Great graphics, bombastic sound

Epic Games is a real eye-catcher! Gears Of War has a gorgeous graphics. The Unreal Engine 3 delivers a real firework of effects! The player gets to see detailed playfields and characters and great animations. Especially great is a night level in the rain but also the other levels look great and varied. Filmreif are the intermediate sequences that drive the action, whereas the dramaturgical content is not always completely meaningless. Especially the German language edition lags the English much behind what the quality of the speakers concerns and the correct translation into German. Where we are at the moment of the acoustics: the sound is bombastic staged and the effects are coming out. Technically, there is at the Unreal Engine 3 what graphics and sound concerns nothing to complain about, only a few small jerkers are here and there like the end boss. The fact is that the Xbox 360 console with Gears Of War impressively shows what power is in it.

Xbox Live and Multiplayer

In addition to the story mode, there is also a multiplay mode to play. The CoOp mode, which can be played together with a friend either online via Xbox Live, via a console in Splitscreen mode or via a system link connection to a second console. In addition to the CoOp mode, there are three other game modes for up to eight players, such as “War Zone”, which is nothing more than the mandatory Deathmatch, or “killing”, in which each team has its own leader, Player. If it is switched off by the opposing team, the round is over. The person who killed the leader will be in the next round in his own team, while the enemy leader is taken over by the best player of his squad. The last multiplayer mode is called “execution”. If you are done in it you are not immediately dead. The faster you press the A button, the faster you are already on the legs. However, the opponent can execute a death blow by crushing his head.
